GREEN EARTH SUPPORTED IN DAVAO NORTE

Reforestation, Green Revolution and the town of Sto.Tomas was given a big boost in the Province of Davao del Norte just recently.
In partnership with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the Local Government of Sto.Tomas, Cong. Lagdameo signed a Memorandum of Agreement yesterday October 20, 2009 allocating Five Million and Five hundred Thousand pesos to a reforestation project in the uplands of the town which form part of the Tuganay Watershed.
Present during the MOA signing and the ceremonial tree planting were officials from the DENR heirarchy led by Regional Director Jim Sampulna, Davao del Norte PENR Officer Ruth Tawantawan and CENRO Panabo Antonio Inguillo.
Mayor Maximo Estela, who is himself a known leader in protecting the beauty of nature with his no-nonsense implementation of Solid Waste Management in the municipality, together with Balagunan Brgy. Capt. Rufo Jedie Angco, led the presence of local officials along with Barangay kagawads, teachers and students of Balagunan National High School.
The project was well accepted by the residents of the barangay with Mr. Bernardo Labadan, Jr., the BISFFA/Peoples Organization Chairman, giving his endless gratitude and praise to Cong. Lagdameo for the project, being the leader of one of the three recipient organizations.
The reforestation project covers the barangays of Balagunan, Bobongon and New Visayas of the Sto.Tomas town and approximately hundreds of hectares which will primarily be planted with rubber trees. This is seen to boost the greening program of the government in its aim of increasing its upland vegetation that would eventually give additional livelihood source to farmers, decrease global warming, and protect even the low lying areas of the watershed from any catastrophic tragedies as observed in the recent flooding incidents in Metro Manila and Luzon inundating hundreds of lives and properties.

SUPPORTING TECHNICAL EDUCATION

CONG. LAGDAMEO GAVE HIS SOLID SUPPORT TO THE LGU THRU TESDA TRAININGS

The global demand for highly-skilled Filipinos is sky high. Countries such as in the Middle East, America, Australia, Europe and even in some parts of Asia such as Japan, Taiwan, Korea among others continue to pour in requests for additional pinoy manpower to man various establishments, firms and homes. This is particularly the reason why our country looked strong and robust during the recent financial crisis, because of the solid influx of foreign remittances from OFW’s, our modern heroes.

As the Filipinos technical skills shone brightest in the international field, praise and adulation could also be given to those government leaders, offices and the academe who have in one way or another, have paved the road for such accomplishment.

In the Province of Davao del Norte, Cong. Anton F. Lagdameo, Jr. and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) have forged a solid foundation to champion the making of skilled, hardworking individuals who will become primary economic contributors not only for their family but also for their community and the nation in its entirety.

Recently, twenty six (26) male residents of Barangay Tuganay, Carmen finished the TESDA Training for Basic Welding Techniques last September 18, 2009 done thru a simple graduation rites at the Tuganay Elementary School. The project is in line with the 1 Million fund allocated by Cong. Lagdameo for the creation of a TESDA Mobile Training Van which directly provides its services to the barangays to train residents with skills. The training was also supported by the Local Government of Carmen headed by its workhorse Mayor Mar Perandos, who together with the municipal council, poured in 100 Thousand pesos to fund the training cost of the participants. This 2-months Training was facilitated by TESDA Davao del Norte led by its OIC Provincial Director Mrs. Amparo Tulo and the Endonela Institute of Technology Foundation of Tagum City. Tuganay Brgy. Capt. Posadas was there to witness the event as his son is also one of the successful graduate, receiving a National Certificate-I competency.

Another twenty (20) graduates received NC-II certificates last Sept.19,2009, five of which came from Panabo City duly supported by Cong. Lagdameo, as they finished a 2-months Butchering Training in Nenita Quality Foods Corporation (NQFC) in Marapangi, Toril, Davao City. The Training which is being facilitated by the A.O.Floirendo,Sr. Foundation, TESDA and NQFC, was held at the latters’ state-of-the-art Slaughterhouse and Processing Plant owned by the Floirendos as part of the giant conglomerate ANFLO Group of Companies.

NQFC AVP and General Manager Dr. Edmond Dantes was ecstatic during his given message and hoped that with the support of the management, NQFC will become Mindanao’s leading Training and Assessment Center to help, especially the less fortunate constituents, to be given opportunitiesfor a better future. The graduates helped by Cong. Lagdameo also shared their deep thanks to the good legislator for bridging their way to success, saying further that, the training will be their springboard to a much greener pasture for their families. Engr. Nestor S. Tabada, Davao del Sur’s TESDA Provincial Director was there to declare the graduates along with Russel Barrizzo, AOFF Programs Director.
